The benefits to eating bananas are so amazing for the human body. It is a starchy fruit that can vary from starchy to sweet in taste. The green bananas are starchier and the yellow bananas are more on the sweet side. Bananas are eaten raw, deep fried, baked in their skin in a split bamboo or steamed inglutinous rice wrapped in a banana leaf. Bananas can be made into jam, banana pancakes, banana chips, and many other yummy snacks.
Bananas are an excellent source of vitamin B6, soluble fiber, and contain moderate amounts of vitamin C, manganese and potassium. Bananas are one of our best sources of potassium, It aids with maintaining normal blood pressure and heart function. A single banana contains a 467 mg of potassium and only 1 mg of sodium. Bananas are a rich source of fructooligosaccharide, which is called a prebiotic because it nourishes probiotic bacteria in the colon. When fructooligosaccharides are fermented the prebiotic bacteria, the numbers of probiotic bacteria increases, and the body’s ability to absorb calcium increases.
